Kindergarten - 8th Grade
Primary Classrooms (K–3rd Grade)
Holy Family School offers full-time Kindergarten through 3rd grade, all located on the first floor. We are proud to maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio, with an average of 25 students per teacher.
Students receive daily religious and academic instruction, along with weekly classes in Art, Music, Physical Education/Health, Library, Technology, and Spanish. Children attend Mass every Friday, on Holy Days, and on other special occasions. During these times, 7th graders serve as “buddies” for Kindergarten students, accompanying them to
church and sitting with them during Mass.
What Students Learn
- Kindergarten: Early reading, writing, math, and a love of art and literature
- 1st Grade: Growing skills in reading, writing, and math, with a focus on strong handwriting
- 2nd Grade: Preparation for Penance and First Holy Communion, plus cursive writing and expanded academic subjects
- 3rd Grade: Advancing in literature, geography, history, science, and math (including multiplication, division, and basic geometry)
Throughout these years, students gain confidence, independence, and a deepening
faith, all guided by dedicated and experienced teachers.
Intermediate Elementary (4th–5th Grades)
Our 4th and 5th grade students continue their academic and faith development on the second floor of Holy Family School. As preparation for middle school, they begin
changing classrooms for certain subjects.
Class Structure
- 4th Grade: Switches classes for science, social studies, and math, with a focus on long division, fractions, decimals, percentages, geometry, and introductory algebra.
- 5th Grade: Switches classes for science and social studies, and is grouped for math based on ability. Students use the rigorous Sadlier Math program.
In addition to stronger academics, students enjoy expanded opportunities for service
projects, athletics, clubs, and social events—helping them grow in faith, responsibility, confidence, and academic success.
Middle School (6th–8th Grades)
Holy Family School’s middle school students continue building strong academic, social, and faith-based foundations as they prepare for high school. With small homeroom class sizes (average of 16 students), they switch classes for all major subjects, including Pre-Algebra/Algebra, Science, Religion, English/Spelling, Literature, and
Social Studies. Students also attend weekly specials such as Technology, Art, Music,
Physical Education/Health, Library, and Spanish.
Faith and Academics
- Catholic values are integrated into all subject areas. Students discuss literature, history, and real-world situations through a Catholic lens, practicing critical thinking and exploring character virtues.
Confirmation Preparation
- 7th Grade: Begins preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation
- All Saints Day Tradition: Students choose a saint, learn about their life, dress as their saint, and present during Mass. Afterwards, the school visits the“Heavenly Hallway,” a favorite school tradition.
Activities and Leadership
- Student Council: Open to 6th–8th graders as officers/commissioners and 4th–8th graders as homeroom representatives
- Academic Bowl: 7th and 8th graders compete with other Catholic schools each spring
- Summer Reading: Required reading keeps students engaged over the break
Service and Community
Middle school students take an active role in service projects, including:
- Fiesta Day (student-run charity event)
- Food pantry collections
